2015 Kite Making Retreat

Swallowtail Delta

For our Summer Kitebuilding Retreat, Barbara Meyer will teach a workshop on buildingher large Swallowtail Delta kite. This 7' x 7' kite with 40' tails can be customized with your own graphics.

Paid registration will get you panel sizes and suggested ideas for your custom kite. Of coarse, you're free to do as simple or as complicated a design as you wish. Trim templates will be available at the workshop to prepare your panels for assembly.

Lunch is included on both days. On Friday evening, early arrivals try to get together for dinner.

A sewing machine, thread, and the usual notions are required, Average sewing skills are needed for this class.

Event Registration is $80 for Keystone members. Membership is only $10 a year per family.

Location


The workshop venue is the Camp Hill Borough Hall. The room is open for set-up 8 am to 9 am Saturday morning.
The class begins promptly at 9 am. Directions to the Camp Hill Borough Hall are HERE. Saturday and Sunday lunches are included with your registration.

Bag Raffle

A Bag Raffle will take place, and donations are welcome. We usually have a great selection of items, so bring a little extra cash for raffle tickets!

Accommadations

We're at our usual Hotel this year. They are located approximately 5 miles from the Camp Hill venue. 12 rooms are held in the "Keystone Kiters Block" until July 8th with special room rates of $99 + tax per night. Rates include a free hot breakfast buffet. Indoor pool and heated spa and fitness room is available. A 24 hour cancellation policy is in effect.

Camp Hill Kite Festival

May Kite Demo

Join us each year at Camp Hill's Fiala Field to make and fly kites. Workshops for kids and Demos by the Keystone Kiters highlight this yearly event. This year's festival takes place Sunday, May 17th from 12pm to 4pm.

Directions to Fiala Field:

From Harrisburg: Rt. 581 W to Rt. 15 North. Stay in right lane and turn right onto Chestnut Street. Turn right onto South 21Street. Drive down to the end of this road and turn right. Drive back to the end of this street and the field is straight ahead.

Keystone Summer Picnics

Summer is upon us and naturally, we want to get together and see what new kites we made/received/bought over the winter.

From South (Maryland/Gettysburg): Take 81 North towards Harrisburg. Take exit 43 and turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto Rt. 465 (Allen Road) approx. mile to Rt. 11 (Sheetz on your left. Right turn onto Ritner Highway ( Rt. 11 North ). Drive approximately .9 of a mile to Meadow Blvd. (2 brick pillars) Left turn onto Meadow Blvd. Go to the end of street (2 blocks) and turn left for pavilion parking.

From North (Hershey/Harrisburg): Take 81 South towards Carlisle continue to exit 44 Plainfield (old exit 12) turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto Rt. 465 (Allen Road) approx. mile to Rt. 11 (Sheetz on your left. Right turn Ritner Highway ( Rt. 11 North ). Drive approximately .9 of a mile to Meadow Blvd. (2 brick pillars) Left turn onto Meadow Blvd. Go to the end of street (2 blocks) and turn left for pavilion parking.
